Even as a child when my hair was in its “natural state’ my hair felt coarse and like straw after washing. It was a mass of tangles and knots. In those days hair conditioner was very short on the ground and came in little sachets. No such thing as a nice big bottle. I remember to this day my dad (he always seemed to draw the short straw) trying to get a comb through my hair after hair washing night. Since the age of sixteen I’ve had highlights which haven’t helped at all. The regular, off the shelf store bought popular shampoos and conditioners leave my hair feeling like dolls hair, all “stretchy” and breaking very easily. After using these products for a period of time my hair ended up with a build up of chemicals and feeling dull and lifeless.

So a few years ago on a visit to my hairdresser she picked up my lank distressed hair and asked what on earth I used on it. When I told her, as expected and with a look of disgust she told me that these cheap products were no good at all, especially if like me your hair is coloured. But how many people these days don’t use some sort of colour on their hair? She told me that what I should be using were “designer salon products” devised especially for treated hair and of course, she sold them in her salon and of course they cost and arm and a leg. You only need to use a small amount she said. So for a few years I was sucked in, they made my hair feel great, I had to be inventive as to where I hid them from the rest of the family as they were so expensive, but as I wash my hair every day, I eventually decided that I could no longer justify the cost of using them. I also wanted a product that wasn't laden with chemicals.

I felt that there just had to be a product out there that would do the job, make my hair feel great at a much more economical price and at the same time contain little or preferably no synthetic chemicals.

I tried numerous different natural shampoos and conditioners that were adequate but still left me having to use spray on leave in conditioners just to get a comb through my hair, then I found the Alba Hawaiian range of products.
